Docentium: The Six Deaths of the Faith
Docentium is a monthly program designed to weave Catholicism and Culture together. New topic each month!
    Presented by Fr. Tom Hoisington

    The Mission of Docentium is:

    • To form and equip disciples of Christ with sound teaching, faithful to our Tradition

    • To build comradery in shared belief and shared interest, in the context of a shared meal

    • To inspire more courageous witness in our families, parishes, workplaces, and communities

The Everlasting Man by G.K. Chesterton is a profound work of Christology.  The first part considers the history of fallen man before Christ’s advent.  The second part reflects on the Christ sent by the Father to save fallen man.  The last chapter of that second part—titled The Five Deaths of the Faith—explores the life of Christ’s Church, and in particular, how it is her destiny throughout history to die and rise in imitation of her Lord.  After considering Chesterton’s five historical examples of the Church dying and rising, Father Thomas Hoisington will consider the Church’s life and suffering in our own day, and explore indications that offer hope for new life in the Mystical Body of Christ.

Join us on the third Thursday of every month at the Spiritual Life Center for an evening of food, friendship, and learning.  Doors open at 6 p.m., food is served at 6:30 p.m., and a lecture will be given on some topic related to religion and culture.  The cost is $15 per person.
